Mumbai

Mumbai / Bombay is the most populous city in India. Mumbai is the financial, commercial and entertainment capital of India. The architecture of the city is a blend different contemporary styles and most of the buildings built during the British period. Vada Pav, Panipuri, Pav Bhaji aresome of the most popular street food in Mumbai.



Mount Mary Church, is located in Bandra, attracts people from all faiths.  the current statue of Mother Mary goes back to the 16th century when Jesuit priests from Portugal brought the statue to the current location and constructed a chapel.

 

Lonavala is a town and a hill station in Pune district.It is about 96 kilometres from the city of Mumbai. It is known for its production of the hard candy 'chikki'. A trip to Lonavla and Khandala can be combined with sight-seeing visits of Karla, Bhaja and Bedsa caves.



Sanjay Gandhi National Park (SGNP), previously Borivali National Park, is a large protected area in the northern part of Mumbai.  It is one of the most visited parks in the world. Main attractions of the park are a lion safari and a tiger safari for encouraging eco-tourism.


Mahabaleshwar is a hill station located in the Western Ghats range. One of the few evergreen forests of India, it served as the summer capital of Bombay province. There are lot of view points to see the scenic beauty and many strawberry gardens too,we could taste the fresh strawberries from gardens.

The Gateway of India, Marine drive, Nariman point, Chatrapati Shivaji Terminus are some of the attractions in the city.

Bangalore

Bangalore is the capital of Indian state Karnataka. It is known as the 'silicon valley' and  'garden city' of India. So when i say 'namma bengaluru' the first thing comes to our mind will be busy malls,crowded streets and traffic blocks. But there are lot of places nearby to visit and explore for every travellers. Here i'm mentioning few of them.


Nandi Hills, is a hill station and a popular tourist spot. Tipu's summer palace and fort is also there.


Big Banyan Tree, is a giant 400 year old tree. It is a natural wonder and it covers an area of 3 acres. This is considered as the fourth biggest banyan tree in India.


Manchinbele dam, is a small reservoir built for irrigation purpose. It is consructed across Arkavathi river and it is a scenic place with the Savandurga mountain in the backdrop.


Shivanasamudra falls, is on the Kaveri river. The island town of shivanasamudra divides the river into twin waterfalls. This creates the fourth largest island in the rivers course. Asia's first hydro electric power station is located at the waterfall.

There are so many rivers,lakes and waterfalls in the place. Lot of churches and temples to visit. Some other attractions are Lalbagh, Cubbon park, Vidhana Soudha, Bangalore Palace, Bannerghatta national park and so on.

Golden Triangle (India)

India's golden triangle is a tourist circuit which includes Delhi, Agra and Jaipur. It is so called because of the triangular shape formed by the locations.

Delhi, the capital territory of India is the second most populous city of nation.Some popular spots are Lotus temple,Humayun's tomb,Connaught place,Indiagate etc.


Red Fort is an iconic symbol of India. On Independence day of India (August 15),the Prime Minister of India hoists the national flag at the main gate of the fort. It is one of the most beautiful and well designed forts in the world. Red Fort, the largest monument in Delhi is one of its most popular tourist destinations.



Qutub Minar is the world's tallest free standing brick minaret. It is a UNESCO world heritage site. It is made of red sandstone and marble.

Agra is a city on the banks of river Yamuna. It is major tourist destination,most notably the Taj Mahal,Agra Fort and Fatehpur Sikri which are UNESCO world heritage sites.



Taj Mahal is one of the seven wonders of the world. It is a white marble mausoleum and tomb of Mughal emperor Shah Jahan's wife Mumthaz Mahal. It is located in the southern bank of river Yamuna. It is the best example of Mughal architecture.

Jaipur is the 'pink city' of India and the capital of Rajasthan. popular tourist locations are Jal Mahal,Jantar Mantar,City Palace,Amer Fort etc.


Hawa Mahal is a pyramidal shaped monument,so named because it was essentially a high screen wall built so the women of the royal household could observe street festivities while unseen from the outside.

Ooty - The queen of hill stations

Ooty is a must place to visit for those who love nature and greenery. The climate is also good throughout the year. I have visited this place many times as part of study tours,personal trips. Local areas are known for tea cultivation.



Ooty lake is a well known spot in this place. It is an artificial lake surrounded by groves of Eucalyptus trees.The boat house is a major tourist attraction in Ooty.


The botanical garden is the other top attraction of the city. It is a 22 acre consist of thousand species of plants and trees. A flower show with an exhibition of rare plants is held every May. Below you can see the glass house in the garden.


The rose Garden has the one of the largest collection of roses in the country with more than 20,000 varieties of roses. This is just a view from the rose garden.


The other attraction of the city includes Pykara falls, Doddabetta peak, Muthumalai National park, Kamaraj Sagar Dam, Pine Forest, Shooting Point and so on.

Roses Are So Beautiful

What's in a name? that which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet;
A quote from William Shakespeare's  ' Romeo and Juliet'  reminds me the beautiful roses I had in my balcony. I had more than ten varieties of roses at home. Since the place had lot of nurseries and a rose garden itself, it was affordable at cheap price. But  the variety of colors always confused me to choose the plant to buy.


This is a picture taken few years before. But recently when I looked at this picture a thought came to my mind. It simply represents the different stages of life. A bud refers the childhood and bloom refers to the colorful  ages of life. The faded flower represents the old age and finally without peals; the eternity.


I  love plants and flowers and cherish its fragrance and memories always.

Flowers are the music of ground
   From earth's lips spoken without sound...

Gulmohar Flowers

Gulmohar is a flowering plant and it is grown as an ornamental tree. Royal Poinciana is its English name and in India it is known as gulmohar. It comes in yellow and orange shades.

 
There was a tree in front of our house where we stayed in Bangalore. In the season time the tree covered with full of flowers and the view itself mind blowing. I liked this place because of these types of seasonal flowers. Colors changes according to season. 
 
 
I used to have my evening tea in our balcony under the shades of its branches when I was there. I  remember in my school there was a gulmohar tree with yellow flowers in our assembly area. So these flowers connected in my memories at different ages with bright colors.
